How to Know When Someone Hacks Your Facebook Account?


Little did we know that Facebook had a security setting which will notify you when someone access your Facebook account from other locations or computers. Read on this tutorial for how to do it.

Setup Facebook security 

  1. Login your Facebook account (preferred your home computer)
  2. Click the “Account” drop down menu at the top right hand side
  3. Click “Account Settings”
  4. Under “Settings” tab of “My Account” page, locate “Account Security” and click “change”
  5. At “Would you like to receive notifications for login from new devices?”, click “Yes”
  6. Click “Submit” button. Done.
That’s easy, isn’t it? Next, you need to register your computer.

Now, you have set the security setting but you need to register your home computer so that Facebook know you are logging in from authorized computer.
  1. Log out Facebook
  2. Log in Facebook
  3. You will be asked to register your computer. Enter a name for your computer.
  4. If you are NOT logging in from a public computer, tick the checkbox of “Don’t ask me again from this computer” to prevent Facebook ask again.
  5. Click “Save” and you are done.
From now on, you will get a notification email from Facebook when someone login you Facebook account from other computer. You can then take necessary actions such as changing facebook password, email password, etc.

While it cannot prevent hackers to access your account, the Facebook account security is useful to alert you. It works on both computer and mobile access.
